Professional services and finance communication courses

Communication skills training for professional services and finance teams

Your people are experts in what they do. But expertise alone doesn’t win clients, build trust or influence decisions. Since 2008, our communication skills training has helped professional services and finance teams across Australia build the writing, presentation and storytelling skills they need to turn technical expertise into clear, persuasive communication.

Why invest in communication skills training for your firm?

In a world racing ahead with AI, it’s still your people – and how they communicate – who strengthen client relationships, translate technical advice and build your firm’s reputation.

Our hands-on workshops give your team the tools they can put to work straight away. Every session is led by an experienced facilitator and tailored to the situations your team deals with every day.

The result is clearer, more persuasive communication that clients notice and value. Your team will learn to:

  • Write sharper proposals, emails, updates and client documents
  • Present persuasive reports and PowerPoint decks
  • Help consultants and analysts explain complex ideas simply
  • Build client-facing confidence in emerging leaders and graduates
  • Turn data into clear, compelling business stories
  • Manage expectations through concise, well-structured communication

FAQs for professional services communication training

Do you deliver training at our workplace?

Yes, we travel to your office or training room – metro or regional – anywhere in Australia. We’ve trained hundreds of professional services staff across Australia.

Need a venue? We can arrange one.

Who runs the training sessions?

We’re an experienced team of professional writers, consultants, storytellers and business leaders. We use the tools and tactics we teach every day. That’s how we know they work – because we rely on them ourselves.

What's the maximum number of participants per workshop?

We cap workshops at 20 people for face-to-face workshops and 10 people for online sessions. Got more people to train? Ask about our online masterclasses or our long-term programs, including Graduate Communication Essentials and Leadership Communication Accelerator.

Can smaller or larger teams book?

Both smaller and larger teams are welcome to book. We can enrol your small team in our public writing courses and organise multi-day programs for larger organisations. Please contact us to arrange the right training solution for your team.

Is the online writing training live or self-paced?

We offer both.

Our online live team writing training is facilitated in real time. Our goal is to match the interactive face-to-face experience as closely as possible. Your people can ask questions and share their thoughts.

We also offer Business Writing Essentials as a self-paced online course. That way, your team members can learn on their own schedule with 12 months of access. They’ll enjoy interactive activities, practical downloads, instant answers and expert writing wisdom, all at your fingertips.

What technology does my team need for online delivery?

For online delivery, your team only needs a computer or laptop with a working microphone and webcam.

We use a cloud-based virtual training platform, so there’s no software to download beforehand. Your team logs in 10 minutes early to check their setup. Then off we go.

How do you charge for your training?

For our training courses, we charge a fixed fee per group, not per head. That’s why we encourage you to fill every spot for maximum value. Our workshops are tailored to your needs at no added cost.

Do course participants receive a credential?

Yes, every course participant receives a Credly digital badge after completing the course. We send it via email. They can then display it on LinkedIn or anywhere else they choose.

How do you charge?

For our training courses, we charge a fixed fee per group, not per head. That’s why we encourage you to fill every spot for maximum value. Our workshops are tailored to your needs at no added cost.

Can this count toward CPD/CPE hours?

Our workshops may be eligible to count toward your team’s continuing professional development, depending on the requirements of their professional body and the relevance of the training to their role.

We provide a certificate of completion and a session outline showing the training hours and topics covered. Participants should confirm eligibility directly with their professional body before claiming CPD or CPE hours.

How can our team justify taking fee-earners off billable work?

The highest hidden cost in professional services is the review cycle: partners and senior staff reworking proposals, reports and client emails that didn’t land the first time.

A half- or full-day training session that helps fee-earners get their communications right earlier cuts those review loops, speeds up client turnarounds and frees senior time. Most firms find the recovered hours outweigh the time invested within the first few engagements.

Can we use client work in the session without confidentiality issues?

Yes, real-world examples are a big part of what makes the training so valuable. We work with your team’s real documents and workplace scenarios, but you control what’s shared.

Many firms de-identify client names and sensitive details beforehand – and we’re happy to sign an NDA. Where using real work isn’t appropriate, we’ll build realistic, sector-relevant examples that mirror your team’s day-to-day tasks.

Can the training align with our firm's house style or brand voice?

Yes, if your firm has a style guide, brand voice or templates, share them with us before the workshop and we’ll build the session around them so your team is practising the standards you already hold them to, not a generic house style.

If you don’t have shared standards yet, we can help you create writing style guides and brand voice bibles.
